I love Sundays...

Yes, I love Sundays :) I'd have to say it's my favorite day of the week. I mentioned before that I want to capture more of the normal, everyday moments of my life. So today, as I was baking, I heard Amber ask Eric to read her a book. Ah, where's my camera? I dart downstairs, grab the camera and start clicking. Eric reading to Amber, the other kids (most of them anyways plus a nephew) playing a game of 'Settlers', my fresh-from-the-oven banana muffins (Eric teases me about taking pictures of food). While I was running around taking ordinary pictures, I realized that I love Sundays. No other day of the week do we get Eric all to ourselves (minus church time, but that's family time right?). No other day of the week do we turn off the T.V. for such a long stretch of time to play games. Today the missionaries came over for dinner, so I was trying to make the meal a little extra special. As I was preparing the meal, I felt gratitude. Gratitude for a day that is so different from the rest.

I decided to include the 'Banada Muffin' recipe that I make whenever we have over-ripe bananas. It's so yummy!

Best Ever Banana Muffins
3 large bananas
3/4 c. white sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. flour
1/3 c. melted butter
Mash bananas. Add sugar and slightly beaten egg. Add the melted butter. Add the dry ingredients and bake @ 350 for about 15 minutes, or until the tops are nicely browned.

Shoveling the grass?
It sounds strange, I know. I mean, who shovels the grass? Well, the kids celebrated the first snow flakes by shoveling the grass into a huge mound so that they could build a ramp to slide down. They spent a wonderful afternoon outside. There will be many more to come, sooner rather than later, I'm sure. The fall has actually been fairly mild this year, which I'm liking. The kids are so ready to play in the snow and are asking to get their skates sharpened.
Our life is so different in Canada. It's been over a year now. Last year at this time Amber had barely discovered her first snowflakes. The big boys didn't know how to skate. They tell me that now they can actually skate pretty fast, though they still aren't good at stopping. I can just picture it, Blake and Seth colliding into eachother to stop, lol. They now love skating, biking and pond hockey. (Blake got his fist concussion a few weeks ago going over some dirt jump with his bike complete with an ambulance ride and everything. He tells me he's not scared of jumping, though, because he still can't remember a thing from his crash. Yikes! No biking til next spring.)

I've developed quite an interest in cooking and baking, which the kids are really liking. It's really quite fun to cook/bake when it all gets eaten up almost as fast as it comes out of the oven. The boys LOVE the baking especially. It's been a wonderful year :)

What a night :)

Turns out Madison and her friend, Brittney, helped Amber and Bryce carve their pumpkins. Amber and Bryce designed, while the older girls carved. I love the see the older and younger kids interacting together, makes my heart melt :) Here's a pic of the final result, pretty cute, don't ya think? Bryce designed the bottom one, Amber the top.
The older boys were all about the candy. They threw something on, anything they could find - it was irrelevant really to whether it was a 'costume' or not. They were on a mission to get the most candy as fast as they could. The only requirement with their so-called costumes was that you could run in it. Ha-ha! When they got home the basement became a candy-trading-war-zone. Trading this for that, it was hysterical. It reminded me of what I imagine the NYSE to be like. This candy trading was serious business, and they had a ball doing it. About 10 boys in all. I think I'll ignore the aftermath mess until tomorrow morning, when I have more energy :) Sheri

Ack, she's growing up way too fast!
Madison got her driver's yesterday! A great day for her, a scary day for me! I mean, it's really scary sending your baby out in a car by herself. Life seems to be in fast-forward - it's seems like it was yesterday that I was holding her in my arms. In less that 2 years, she'll be in college. Ugh! I'll deal with that later.

Amber, Bryce and I are carving pumpkins this morning. I'll be back later with some pics :) They've been counting down the sleeps before Hallowe'en. Kids are so cute.

Baking with the girls...

I'm hoping to be able to capture some of my everyday moments, the day to day stuff... you know, the normal things that go on. Ithink it's those everyday moments that really tell your story. So I'm hoping that by doing a blog I will remember to take the picture, lol.
A couple of days ago I made cinnamon rolls with Madison and Amber. We had so much fun. I forgot to take a pic of the girls making their mess rolls, but did remember before all the boys devoured their yummy rolls. My mom used to make us rolls, loved them.

OK, I'm off and going...
I've posted my 1st post (yeah!), now so much more to learn...
Here's a pic that I took the other day. It's of Heidi and Justin. It's one of my fav pics ever! Justin is so crazy for Heidi, and I can see the emotion in this picture. Love it :) Sheri

I'm finally going to try this blog thing...
I've been thinking about doing a blog for awhile. Not sure exactly what sparked my interest, but I've been thinking a lot lately about what and how and who inspires me.. maybe that's my reason for blogging. Hopefully this will inspire me to record the 'everyday' events. Whatever the reason, I'm hoping that I will record some of the little joys, the ups and downs, that I experience in my own little world. I think of this as a journal, so to speak. My life, my normal life. Little things that go on in the 'Lawrence' household and my take on it.... now I've just need to figure out how to make this blog work.
